    Re: DIY hide boxes

I've used thick plastic halloween serving bowls(they are purple with black spiders on them). Just solder an entrance in the side and voila, a nice hide that is easy to clean. They were $1 apiece. I've also used washed, single-serve food trays(the black ones). The snakes seem to like them. I've also used the black containers from Chik Fil-A that the caramel sauce comes in and the big containers that the fruit salad comes in. Black, plastic and easy to clean.

For my adults I use upside down small catlitter pans. Just cut a door and you're set. They fit perfectly in my CB-70 tubs as well.

My local Menards (hardware store) has these brightly colored popcorn bowls. They are fairl thin, pretty big, and cheap at 97 cents each. I got some snipping shears and voila! Instant hidebox.

If you have a rack, I think one thing to keep in mind is weight. If you are using clay pots for example, and you add up that weight over 8/12 slots it could be a pretty significant force weighing down on your rack, i.e. rack sag.

    Use your imagination
