No eating! D=

My Ball Python hasn't eaten in 2 weeks and I have no clue why! Usually I feed her a f/t mouse,when I drop it in she is ready to eat it with a little bit of persuasion (dangling), but these past two weeks shes had no feeding response at all D= I even dangled it right in front of her nose this time and nothing! All she did was slither along happily around it onto my hand. The week that she did eat, she missed the mouse and hit her nose, but ate anyways. I dont think that had anything to do with it? So I waited a week and tried again... no luck
Should I maybe try something different like small rats? Or feed live?

My girl is a VERY good eater and only didn't eat for me once before.

My BP isn't eating now because she is in shed. When was the last time your snake shed?

Thats the reason she didnt eat a loong time ago, but she always eats even before sheds with the exception of that one (quite the fatty, lol) . She shed 3 weeks ago.

It could be due to anyone of a number of husbandry issues and you need to supply more info. Sometimes BPs just stop eating for a while and they can go many many months without and no harm done. Now is *not* the time to try different prey items or feeding live. Keep offering the same meal each week and eventually she will eat. We really need more info on your snake and set up though.

I dont know the exact measurements of the tank (ill measure it tonight)
But right now I have a log-looking hide on the hot side that she used to adore, and one about in the middle (the one she almost always perfers now) and then I have a mini tree thing that she likes to climb on and make loud noises while I sleep (haha) her water bowl is on the cool side right in front of the mini-tree. Oh, and some random wood on top of the log hide that she also likes to climb and rub against when she is trying to shed.

Has anything changed in her set up recently or has she been like that since you got her? How old is she now? Young BPs tend to have a fiercer feeding response as they age and their rate of growth down shifts it is more common for them to miss a meal.

It's not uncommon by any means for balls to go off feed - especially during the winter months. My 1 1/2 year old ball usually eats a f/t small rat weekly without issues. This winter though, he went off for a month, then with me offering weekly went back on for 3, then suddenly off again. After another month of refusals, he finally took a live rat pup yesterday. For me, rather than having to throw out refused f/t rats week after week and end up just wasting them, I have no issue offering my ball a smaller-than-usual live rat to get him going again. I don't have any problems with refusals once offering f/t again the weeks after.

Looks like a big enclosure compare to the size of your BP, which could have affect your BP over time.

I see one hide do you have another one identical?

Do you use anything else beside the dial gauge to measure your temps and humidity (those are not accurate and you need a digital thermometer/hygrometer)

Also remember 2 consecutive refusals are far from several month fasting, so try to identify what if there is anything that can be done so your BP resumes feeding.
