    Incubator Input

I've been trying to find a good incubator, and I keep coming back to this one:
    http://www.aveyinc.com/reptile_cabinet_incubator.htm
I was just wondering if anybody here owns one or knows somebody who does, or used to. Or if there's another brand of incubator that you like? We're not really interested in building our own, we're not typically successful with do-it-yourself projects. I want the best that I can get under $1000. We plan on having ball python eggs as well as jungle carpet eggs.

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

Check out Casey Hulse's incubators. I can tell you I've seen them at shows and know people that use them and I've always heard good things. He's a great guy to talk to and is very fast at returning emails. Here's a feedback thread on Casey and his wife Darla and their business.

I got a 1250R from G.Q.F. Manufacturing. It isn't listed on their website www.gqfmfg.com. But if you don't know much about electrical wiring you may be better off going with the 1550R as it is all digital control with a wafer type back up. The 1250R uses two wafer t-stat elements which for me was the way I wanted to go as I replace both of them with 2 Rancos and then added a third Ranco for additional protection.

Do you any contact info for Casey? We've been trying to find out about his incubators because we've heard very good things, but the website's been down every time I go to look at it. If you have a phone number or an email address, I'd greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks for your input!

He's really good about returning his emails, considering how busy this time of year is for him. Drop him an email and I'm sure you'll hear back soon. His incubators come with the option of either a Helix or Herpstat tstat (or without tstat is you have one already bought). Definitely worth checking out.

Hey Allysen! I'm using a Avey... Bear with me and I'll tell ya everything good and bad!

Last year was my first year to have it and when I had my first clutch *Large-14 eggs* I went to put the eggs into the nest boxes that come with the incubator... They didn't fit height wise... I panicked and set everything up on vermiculite... I made a very bad mistake and didn't "seal" the boxes with plastic wrap. I lost too much humidity and lost some eggs... STILL crushed over that... I didn't have the nerve to separate the eggs... and in hindsight, well... you know..

K... so THIS year, I had my hub cut out two of the shelves to make room for taller boxes that are at the bottom of the incubator. I went substrateless... cause I vowed to NEVER loose a babe again to a humidity issue.

This morning I got a clutch of 4... and they fit perfectly in the top shelf nest box...

You know, I'll just go get a pic for ya.... I'm much better with visual!

As for temps and precise reading... the thing does not waver AT ALL! As a incubator... it's phenomenal... I just had a issue with the height of the shelves and had to "tweak" it...

Hope that story helped??? I'll go get a pic for ya!

    Re: Incubator Input

I have to agree, Casey Hulse has awesome incubators. He has wonderful customer service, reasonable pricing and lighting fast shipping.

I emailed him a couple of weeks back and asked how long it would take before he would be able to ship and he quoted me 2 weeks and then 4-5 days in transit. That seemed more than reasonable to me, especially with this being egg season.

I placed my order on the night of the 19th and wasn't expecting the incubator for another week and some change. So, imagine my shock when I answered the door on the 26th and it was sitting on my front porch!

IMHO, you can't go wrong with Casey.
