    2 headed beardie

Someone managed to hatch a 2 headed dragon. Very cool, except I doubt it will live long. Hopefully it will though.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. -- A Kernersville couple running a reptile business out of their home got a unique surprise Friday morning after they discovered one of their new hatchlings had not one, but two heads.

Jan Davis, who with her husband is raising bearded dragons, also knows as agamid lizards, discovered the strange reptile after it hatched around 6 a.m.

Davis said hatching a lizard with two heads isn't something that happens every day.

There have been a few two headed beardies out there, but as far as i know there are not any that survive longer than a few weeks.

Hello, Recently on another board, there have been a few things like this, But heres one i find very interesting, its a older juvie/sub adult with 2 heads, a male. My worry is the breeding mood and 2 males not being able to get away stresses them out but regardless.

Moderators, I understand the rule of not linking another forum, but i beleive this fits in with the thread. If not, Go ahead and delete it.

In there, page 6, 5th post down from the top, a Mod fixed the pictures.

Also, Steve of Bloodbank dragons hatched out a simese twin, that had 2 mostly formed bodies, but put it to sleep at his discresion.

Anyway, its becoming more and more common, Maybe just random, or something with our limited stock, but either way, its something interesting, and sad for the animal.

Also, they are not know also as agamid lizards, that is just one way you can call any lizard with legs that eats insects( there is over 30 kinds of lizards that you can call agamid, its not a good description what so ever). They should have said Pogona Vitticeps.

Eh, im not going to split hais over a reptile phobic reporters tiny amount of research. Unless they said it, ill let em be.

Anyway, what ever is going on with these different anomalies, disturbs me. But i do wish them and the breeder the best and that they can lead productive lifes.

Personally, if they did what they should do with beardies and go back a few bloodlines to make sure no one was related, i do not think it would have happened.

A breeder in Houston also hatched one out a couple years ago. It lived for a good while at least... I know he sold it while still alive after it was some months old.

    Ben,

Nothing wrong with adding links that contribute to the discussion - you'll find we are a pretty tolerant forum!
