    Incredibly Sad.

Some of you may remember this thread, I posted a week and a half ago:
    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...d.php?p=738675

Therein I was giving the good news--that my first letter back from the Grad. schools was an acceptance letter. I've since received 4 letters back:

UConn and Penn State didn't offer me admission...I was sad about UConn, because I really wanted to get in there. The University of Vermont and University of New Hampshire both admitted me, but UVM offered me no Teaching Assistantship or fellowship. That meant that tuition was $26k/year, plus another ~$15k for housing/living expenses/books, etc. I just can't afford to take out 40-45k out in loans for my first year of grad. school, and probably another $25k the year after that. I already have $20k out for undergrad...and in the humanities, having $80k worth of debt hanging over your head when you get out of your Masters degree...it's just not worth it.

UNH was running behind on their Teaching Assistantship decisions, and I wasn't going to find out until this afternoon whether or not I got one. When I called, I was informed that I didn't receive one...and I'm just so sad about it. I've spent so much time, energy and money to apply to schools. It's upsetting that I now can't go--not because I wasn't good enough to get in somewhere, but because I wasn't good enough to qualify for some sort of non-loan financial aid.

I really had my heart set on grad. school this fall...and now I've got to go with Plan B. I have to get a job, re-apply to grad. schools and go part-time while I work... I'm not looking forward to taking 4-5 years to finish a 2-year degree. I'm just really upset right at the moment and needed a place to vent.

I dont know if this will help, but my ex took a job at her college to finish up her degree. She wound up finishing and it cost her nothing to go. She is now a professor at the same school, at the time she was attending she took a job in the registras office. I hope things work out for you.

Also many employers offer incentive packages for their employees to finish their degrees.

Don't get too down about it, since you've just finished one major accomplish of getting your first degree. That's AWESOME! The other will come, when the time is right.

Hug yourself. Lick your wounds. All will be fine. Really. Things happen that are supposed to happen. I had my heart set on a certain graduate school and thought for sure I would get in and was told I was a shoe-in. The night before the big final interviews I got word that my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. Needless to say, I did not do well for the interview and so did not get in.
I was devastated. Totally crushed. Ashamed over my denial. Felt I let my family down.
Then tings started to work the way my destiny was planned. I'm in grad school and am doing quite well. The school knows of my daughter's diagnosis and so I get the flexibility that I need to help with my grandsons.
My point is: All things happen the way they are suppose to happen. It will all be good. Keep walking forward.

That's really too bad I was really hoping something would work out. Things always happen for a reason. I hope you're able to make the best of it
