Is your snake still young? I notice that the older mine gets the less he goes at those terrible times.

Also the more I handle him the more he gets used to me and get's used to being out and about.

I also check to see if he has a 'puffy' butt before I handle him. If it looks bloated I'll pass up handling him for the night.
