    iMac's.

I think I might get one tonight. I'm not too computer savy but I'm curious, would I need to upgrade the basic system to play World Of Warcraft? Also, they are having a rebate so you get a printer from them for 30.00. Plus I just bought a new digital camera about 2 months ago and I know I'll miss my iPod if I get rid of that too. The iMac just seems like a great deal to get a great overall computer that'll last a long time. I'm curiousfor input from people who are more computer literate then me.

Wow is very graphics and RAM intensive. neither of which Imacs are good for. Also all of the parts are notebook parts, which are much more expensive and harder to replace. You really need a tech for IMacs

A year ago when I was selling them the biggest model I think came with 2 gigs but the computer was $1,999 and was a 24 in. All of the lower models have 1 gig. To run Wow imo you need minimum of 2 gigs and a good graphics card, which Imacs don't come stock with. Also the RAM they use runs in pairs only, so in order to upgrade from 1 gig to 2 gigs, you need to buy 2 1 gig sticks, which are about 100-125 dollars a piece.

Also if you use Ventrilo, macs don't work well with it.

I personally don't like Mac, but would consider owning an Imac for purely for non-gaming.

Thats another thing, for the price of any Mac you could build a desktop from the ground up, make it twice as powerful and make it cost half as much.

I don't know about WOW because I don't play it, but my iMac is 4 years old now and it's still AWESOME. There's not a thing that I've wanted to do on it that I haven't been able to. The warranty is excellent, and the customer service (from the actual mac people and the mac store people) has been some of the best I've ever encountered! I love it, I really do. I'd always had the professional harddrive store type people build me PCs in the past, and not a one ever lasted as long as this one has without any problems, but then again, I'm REALLY computer illiterate, so that could be why, lol!

I don't use my iMac quite as much anymore (only a couple times a week) because I have a powerbook that goes with me everywhere, but it's still an awesome computer. Much loved!

At work I use a 24" iMac with 2gb of ram and a 2.8 core 2 duo running 10.5.2, and a Dell 8300 with 3gb and a Pentium 4 3.0 running XP that cost about 1/2 what the iMac cost. I also have a $325 PC running Vista with 2 gb and a 2.8 processor and a Mac G5 with dual 1.8 and 2 gb running 10.5.2. If it were my money I'd get a top notch Dell with XP, or Vista Pro if you aren't doing much networking.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

Ahhhhhhhhh. I'm happy I asked! Hehe I know I'd go nuts without being able to play WoW. I'll go look at some PC's tonight. I think I just really need to parent myself on my time on the PC. Even if I don't decide to get a suped up PC, it's still nice to be able to do all the things you can do.

    Re: iMac's.

I've had this debate countless times. Macs are growing so much more popular for a lot of reasons. Cost is not one of them. Quality is.

I built a media computer that was a screaming machine...I hand selected each and every component and put it all together. I paid a total of about $1,500. It still works well, but I'm just sick of Windows.

I was put on one of the 24" iMacs at my work..It's suped up and it's a machine built for multimedia. Yeah there are faster PC's, there are ways to build your own PC..but the reliability and quality of my iMac at work absolutely shuns my computer at home.

Add on top of that... Leopard...with Time Machine and all its other little goodies, it's no wonder people are switching to Mac. there are a lot of people that swear by mac (me turning into one), and it's because they work and they work well.

don't get me wrong, I think PC's have their place and will never go away. they are awesome for gaming and plenty of other things. I'll always have a PC....well not a PC... I will have Windows running on Bootcamp on my Mac

    Too True...
