    Herpstat?

I'm thinking about getting a herpstat due to the fact that I hear there are alot of problems with Helix's. So I was wondering I know alot of people use each kind and I'm thinking about just the herpstat or herpstat II so I was wondering on recommendation what would you would... recommend ha ha and the pros and cons. Thanks in advance!

    Re: Herpstat?

I've said this a bunch today, I should probably just write a post and save the link.

Herpstats are great. I currently have one, but another will be here tomorrow. My temps are always in the 91.7-92.1 degree range. Always! Dion, the owner is top notch. Answers your email extremely fast, pretty much like being in a chat room with the guy.

If you order it in the morning/early afternoon, it goes out THAT DAY! Shipping is super cheap through USPS and arrives quickly.

So far I have found nothing to complain about while owning my herpstat. I guess that's why I just sent another $115 to him.

I just went with the herpstat. Herpstat II doesn't seem worth it to me. I don't night drop, and a Herpstat II is a little bit more expensive than 2 Herpstats. It's like $1 more or something... when I get a pair of breeding snakes, I'll get the Herpstat II because I'm going to build a small rack for them.

    Re: Herpstat?

I think I might go that way then as I don't night drop either and until I'm allowed to get more which looks like probably a year or so away unfortunately I don't need more than an outlet... although I can for sure see me upgrading to the Herpstat II at some point in the next year or so.

    Thanks for all the input!

    Re: Herpstat?

Depending on the enclosure and types of heating elements you have a herpstat II could help. If you have an under the tank heater on the hot side and cold side you could have a probe on each UTH to keep one at 92 degrees and the other at 80-82 degrees. Would really help if you were using a glass aquarium! I like the herpstat pro and have 2 of them. It is the the cheapest per channel and has the night drop and tons of other features like Hi / Lo alarms and reminders. Expensive up front, but $320 for effectively 4 proportional thermostats is cheap compared to buying 4 single channel herpstats at $115.00 each ($460.00 total). You end up saving $140.00 over the long run!

    Re: Herpstat?

Well I just got my Herpstats today. I bought (2) Herpstats. I want to be able to control both high and cool sides using UTH. I bought herpstats so if I ever did have a problem with one I still would have the use of the other, if I bought the herpstat 2 I would be out of luck till it got fixed. I must say it was the best $200.00 I have spent in awhile. I dont have to screw with turning a knob up and down. I feel so much more secure with the temps.

Just set it and leave it.
