Today was super stressful!![]()
My roommate's dog is obsessed with mice so when I bring mice home for feeding day, he gets all excited and wants to get the mice. Fed Karma, all went well, closed his lid and left him alone like I always do after a feeding, and went to make my lunch. I noticed the dogs running in and out of my room so I went to check and the tank was on the floor!! The glass was all broken, the mice-obsessed dog was sniffing around it with his tail wagging. (I'm deaf so I didn't hear the tank crash.)
I told my roommate to come and get the dogs out while I looked for Karma, who was curled up in a ball under a piece of glass. He was covered in mucus-y blood, and my heart just about stopped! I took him to the bathroom and filled the tub a few inches and put him in there (thank goodness I cleaned the tub last night!!!) and watched to see if the water got redder, but it didn't. Karma was still for a few minutes and I was just holding my breath then he un-curled and began exploring. I picked him up and gave him a very through inspection (and again, and again, and again!) and he doesn't have ONE scratch or cut or any bite marks! Absolutely nothing! I left him in his back up tank in the bathroom while we cleaned floor in my room, and we found more blood on the floor, so we checked all the dogs, but nothing. They're keeping an eye on the dogs for now. I put in a call to the vet and the vet said if Karma seems fine to just keep an eye on him, if he gets worse then bring him in asap.
His tank was on the top of my dresser, which is a little bit taller than my hip (I'm 5'7") and to fall that distance in a glass tank, with dogs around?praise the snake god!
He's been chilling on my stomach for the past 30 minutes, I've set his temporary tank up but it takes a while for the heat and humidity to get to where they should be, so he's staying `1on my stomach absorbing my body heat.
