im not forgotten
Elliott, my older boy has been passed around to family this last week while Ethan has been in the hospital, while he did have fun with his aunts and grandmothers I was so worried he was feeling like he had been deserted, not knowing why mommy and daddy werent coming to get him. This is the longest hes ever been away from us. At night when Ethan was fine I thought of him (heck a moment didnt pass when i didnt think of him) and wondered if he would forget me. Then today when we picked him up Darren went in to get him while i waited outside the moment he saw me he ran as fast as his little legs would carry him to me and gave me a hug and held on for dear life, tears streamed down his face when he told me he missed me and i cried, I couldnt believe how much a 3½ year old can impact your life, and how much you impact theirs.. take a moment parents to hug your children, know it is you that matters most to them. Its amazing how much you can miss someone so small.

Re: im not forgotten
I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be torn between your two children, when both need you so much.
Both my kids were squealing as I chased them down to hug them, but it was definitely time well spent. Thanks for the reminder.

Cause when push comes to shove you taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong wipe your hands shake it off

It really is amazing how much these little people make a difference in your life and it was by far one of the most difficult things having to choose between who needed me most, especially considering both of them are big time mommas boys! im glad to hear you did it!

I'm very close to both of my kids as well. I love that I know everything and can fix anything. I have superpowers, at least in their eyes.
I just hope the neighbors don't think I'm killing the kids, since their screaming and caterwauling was enough to raise the dead.

Re: im not forgotten
Well by the time I read this Ashley, my youngest is off deep in dreamland clutching his favorite stuffed Spiderman. He's a big boy now (all of 6, dontcha know LOL) but explains away his need to have this cuddle toy but saying very seriously "momma Spiderman keeps away bad dreams, he's not sleeping with me!, he's on nightshift!" Omg they say the cutest things!
I went in though, dropped a kiss on his cheek and remembered to thank God for him and all my kiddo's. Thanks for the reminder though.
It's so hard as a parent to be torn between kids like you've just gone through. You have to be with the one that needs you the most at the time, but it's never easy knowing the other one is missing you and needing you too in their own way. Nobody ever tells you about this stuff before you have kids do they.

Re: im not forgotten
Hate to break it to you hon, but wait for the teen years. Hormone hell, the first time they get in a car with a friend, their first date, the first time some idiot at school makes them feel bad because they aren't wearing the "right" jeans, the first time they yell "I hate you mom" (they really don't of course) but your heart about breaks.
Those are crazy years but all you can do is love them even harder. Somebody told me that parenting a teen is just about helping them survive their own stupidity (no slur on our teenage members here please, you have to be a parent to get that one LOL).
