I'm sorry, just to clarify...you said $35??? Is that a normal price because if so we got hosed.

So we paid twice as much as he did, no big deal. He is worth every scent.

Yeah I paid $35 for her after some light haggling... But like I said, she was alot smaller than she is now. What is the normal price range for a nice 450-500g female? I have gotten them cheaper, but not as nice. Whats the avg price for a spider? I wont say how much I got him for until I get estimates How much would all of you expect to pay for him (assuming you wanted one and had the money to spend)??

Did you buy yours at a pet store?

Re: How nice are my balls?

That explains the price then. Ok I guess eventually I will have to declare this anyway, but I work at Petco as a reptile specialist so I can assume you either paid 79.99 or maybe you caught the sale price and paid 59.99... Honestly, I dont recommend that anyone buys from pet stores (in general) with a few exceptions to some of the specialty stores I have seen since they usually dont mark the prices up as much because they deal with people who know more about the reptiles and their prices. I always go to local reptile shows and do my business there and I would say the avg price for a BP the same size as the ones at Petco would be $25-35 unless you are a decent haggler/know the guy selling it. The shows are always fun even if you dont buy anything because you can see a variety of different reptiles, amphibians, invertibrates, etc.

Re: How nice are my balls?

I think the price was actually $72.99, and at that point I didn't even know that reptile shows existed. So now, looking back, I wish I would have done a little more research, but I can't go back now. Either way, I ended up with a great BP... well, as soon as he eats anyway!

Oh, I guess the prices aren't company-wide then... As long as its a good pet for you and you think it was worth the money you spent, dont regret a thing Next time you have the opportunity to go to a show, you will love it. Be prepared to have an uncontrollable urge to buy new pets though!

I love the color of your spider.

I bought my first ball python for 69.99. A normal male. I don't regret it though because he is an awesome snake and got me hooked on this great hobby.
