Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
snakes like live food...
wolves eat animals while they are still breathing...
fish eat live fish...
giving snakes live food is the same thing they would do in the wild. theres no reasoning with nutcase animal lovers that are totally oblivious to what happens in nature.

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
Morals and ethics have nothing to do with it. Its nature.
IMO, the only people who have a problem with live feedings are usually people who don't keep snakes...or in the least, people who have not kept snakes for very long.

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
When i first started into snakes i would not even think about feeding live, not because i thought it was wrong, but i felt bad for the mice. The first live feeding was the hardest, and after that i did not really care.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
I don't believe feeding live is morally wrong.
Snakes naturally eat live food. Though feeding live is not the same as a snake eating a wild rodent. In the wild the rodent has a chance to escape. Sometimes they get caught sometimes they don't. That's the way of nature. Feeding live makes you responsible for the animals death because you are going to make sure your snake does eat it or it will go to another snake that will eat it.
I'm not saying it is wrong. Don't you live feeders get in a tizzy. It's a matter of choice that's all.

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
I cant belive that with genocide, abortion, rape, murder, starvation, hiv, and everythin else going on in the world today people still find time to focus so much time on feeding live mice and britney spears kids..... Just crazy if u ask me
Don't even get me started about all the celebrity gossip shows/magazines. Does anyone think Tom Cruise cares if MY girlfriend is pregnant? So why should I care what he decides to name his kid?
Sorry that I'm so off topic

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
I'm with you on that Beardedragon, when i bought my 2 normal females, I was told they ate great on f/t. I found that not to be true, my girls just didnt eat that good on f/t and I found myseld wasting many f/t rats. One day I tried live and I haven't wanted to go back since! The first time was definitely the hardest, I almost cried. Even now, I feel a bad, not like b4 tho, I say sorry to the mouse or rat and then tell my snakes to GET UM'!
My mother when ever she comes to visit always says how evil snakes are and how they shouldnt be alive because they eat mice/rats and that im crazy for doing it and I hear "you're sick! how can you do that? I never thought you'd ever own a snake". I hear it all!!! I've tried explaining to her that its natural, its the food chain and its better IMHO than us eating chicken, beef or pork, the way most large companies treat livestock is VERY inhumane.
But she never listens so I just ignore it.
Everyone will have their own opinions, my snakes eat better on live. It works for them so it works for me and thats all that matters in my eyes.

Re: Live Feeding Morally Wrong???
Options are limited on my island - its either feed live or kill fresh. Having been a veterinary nurse in the past i can see both sides. In honesty i was someone who would have prefered to feed frozen. But my BP has always eaten live with no problem. It is what she would naturally do. When i drop a mouse in they are none the wiser they happily wonder around looking into all the nooks. They never see it coming.
I think out of preference i will always feed live - no matter what the animal righters feel. Its what is best for my BP not for them.
