And for a primarily nocturnal animal which spends most of the daylight hours (in the wild) nestled snugly in a rodent burrow or underneath a termite mound, that feels a lot like home.
Ball pythons aren't like lizards or turtles - they have no real need for sunlight. Oh, they look good in it, and photograph great in it - but they don't need it for physiological or psychological health.
