My girl and I have roughly 15 to 20 tattoos combined. And I don't know...5 to 10 piercings. So I'm down.

Re: Calling all persons with body mods

Wow, guys! I'm going to have TONS of research for this paper.

Ok, there are 8 questions, one or two maybe slightly more invasive than I'd originally hoped. Feel free to leave them blank if you must, but I think you'll find they aren't anything bad. Please remember that I am including cosmetic surgery in this since it is a form of body modification. All questions include this aspect unless otherwise noted.

you can just post your answers here or PM me. If you'd like to e-mail them to me, let me know and I'll get my e-mail address to you.

    Thanks again.
    ---------------------------------------------------------
    1. Are you a male or a female?

    2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery

    3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.

    4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
    ------------------------------------------------------------

I may think of more questions as I go on, so look for this thread to pop up again later. Also, if there is anyone who is actually IN the industry who would be willing to speak with me, (I have a different set of questions) that would be amazing.

I really appreciate anyone willing to help.
Well, the last two times i've had gender modification....

    Hahaha

    1. male

    2. a

    3. I dunno how this could be an opinion statement, more like a guess. I'd say women.

    4. For the men: Depends on the girl. If she's all tatted up and super girly, that's just retarted.

    5. Women: Same question but regarding men.

    6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Again, depends on which type. I would say tattoos for men and piercings, plastic surgery for women.

    7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.

Put it where you want. For a woman, if it's a full sleeve then it's ok, just one tattoo on the arm... ehh.. don't like it. But again, put it where you want.

    8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? My first tattoo I was into things I no longer am into, but I don't regret getting it. It's who I was, like a marker in my life, plus it still has meaning. Light/Dark, Good/Evil type of theme.

My Cowboys tattoo represents the 5 kick ass championships Dallas has won, and there's room to add numbers 6-10.

Re: Calling all persons with body mods

    1. Female

    2. Tattoos and peircings

    3. I would say more women, just because of cosmetic surgery. Tattoos and peircings are about even.

    4.N/A

    5. Sometimes, I think it usually tells a story about the person.

    6. I believe it's more socially acceptable for women to undergo plastic surgery, and for men to get peircings and tattoos. Women get plastic surgery to conform to the stereotype set for women by the media, and men get tattoos and peircings so they can be percieved as being "tough". (neither of which is always the case)

    7. I don't percieve it as taboo, I'm more of a "do whatever you want with your body", but I will say I couldn't picture myself getting a tattoo on my upper arm, because I feel it will just not fit right with my body, just as I couldn't see my fiancee getting his navel peirced, although I have seen guys with navel peircing in which it was very sexy. So it's not really taboo, it more of a "whatever works for you"

    8. It all started when I moved in the middle of sixth grade. Even when we were traveling to our new home in FL, I got my ears peirced 2 more times. When I got there, I didn't really fit in, so I decided, I'm going to be as different as possible. Tattoos and peircings were not allowed in my middle or high school, so I saw this as a perfect chance to really be different from everyone else. I got my navel peirced in 7th grade, my first tattoo in 8th grade, my tongue peirced, and my ears peirced 2 more times in 9th grade. Then I moved to Texas and began dying my hair random colors and got my tongue peirced one more time and had my tregus peirced on both sides and my eyebrow done in 10th grade. In texas you can't get tattoos until you are 18, so I got one more tattoo on my 18th birthday, and another tattoo a few months later.

So I guess my overall answer would be, it's addicting!!

ps- every peircing and tattoo was professionally done in a state licensed tattoo/peircing studio.
