Shouldn't be necessary for a single clutch. The fan equalizes the temperature throughout the incubator, insuring eggs at the top are at the same temp as eggs at the bottom. Place your thermostat probe next to or in the egg box for your one clutch, and you should be ok.

Oh, since heat rises, you might save a dollar or two by putting the eggs and probe near the top of the incubator.
