Sad Day
unless BP's hibernate in the middle of march i do belive i've lost one of my girls..
they BOTH didn't want to eat last month so i bonked the rats and got rid of them
today i got 2 smaller (much smalle) rats
i uncovered both of them to palce them in the feeding boxes..
one isn't moving..
the other is basking in the light not wanting to eat
the tank is about 75 ATM
it's 24x24x60''
2 boxes on opposite ends of the tank
water dish in the middle
this is the first time using paper as a bedding instead of the pine i had
i've noticed some white powder but i guess thats called uniates?

Re: Sad Day
I am so sorry to hear about this. I think someone else needs to address why this might have happened and maybe some husbandry issues that may have influenced this outcome. In the meanwhile, maybe you could read: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=56846
and this: http://www.ball-pythons.net/modules....warticle&id=59
and this: http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=30763
With this information you might be able to address some needs of your remaining snake.
I'm sorry again for this loss and feel encouraged that you posted and are looking for suggestions and help.... Take care

You cannot tell if it is dead? They do breathe
There is two in one cage? If one was sick, and died, the other might be sick too
75 degrees? Way to cold!

70 is not okay for a tropical animal. Please read the care sheets that I linked for you. Please!

Guess he was wrong! 82 is the minimum ambient temp I keep my BP's at (I have a few dozen too!) 92 is the hot spot.

Re: Sad Day
70 is way too cool for this species of snake. 70 is ok for a corn snake, but I still wouldnt even leave them that cool.
Your tank is massive. I would say you need to do some work ASAP to save this other BP before it too succumbs.
Buy a 28 quart sterilite tub, an Accurite thermometer/hygrometer from walmart.
Put the UTH on a thermostat, set it at 88-92 degrees. We want him to have a basking spot of AT LEAST 88 degrees.
The ambient air temps should be around 80-84. Humidity should be at 60%.
NEVER use pine, use aspen, or some other commonly used substrate like eco-earth or even newspaper.
Please, please do this. Read the caresheet and decide if it's worth it to continue following this one guys advice when it obviously isnt working.
