    Built a new incubator

I finished building an incubator for a guy in Missouri last night. He has a Ranco on the way so he just wanted it controlled by a rheostat instead of a Herpstat. It holds 4 egg boxes, has a small fan to circulate air, and because it uses a rheostat I added a 120v small green light to show whether the unit is on or off, and how much power the heat tape is receiving. It also has a Lexan viewing window and interior viewing lights.

What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

Wow Jake that looks really nice and professional! I think a good number of breeders in the green tree python world look to ice chests for converted incubators. Perhaps you'd like to show them your work.

Thanks, coolers are a thrifty way to go, and with the Herpstat thermostat controlling the temps these would be perfect, even for GTP eggs. I hope to have a few of these for sale in a month or so once I finish my website. Once I get to that point maybe I'll jump back on the chondro forums and see what people think about the digital units. I should clean up since you can't really find nice incubators for less than 2x what I should be offering these for. I've seen these for $550 without viewing windows, and ones similar to my 120qt Igloo for $800 without a window! It's ridiculous.

Thanks! You would definitely be able to throw a piece of egg crate in the egg boxes and go substrateless, but you'd still have to use the boxes. The grid in the incubator is on risers and is just there so the fan can circulate air under the egg boxes.
