    Repticon Atlanta

I dont know if anyone else went to the Atlanta Repticon this past weekend but it was total crap. There were very few vendors there at all and none that I have ever heard of. The few Balls that I did see were not very impressive at all, and everyone that had any hets conivently didnt have any papers. I dont know at least last yr there was a better turn-out and everyone didnt seem shady. Why dont any of the good ball python breeders come to the Georgia?

    Re: Repticon Atlanta

I agree, it was a horrid show. I won't go to another Repticon Atlanta show again. Albino with mites, bins of imports with ticks, people allowed to walk into the show with snakes. The only good thing about the show was getting to see GA_Ball_Pythons when we met there.

The show held by the GA Herp Society is a better show. Still small, but at least clean and not nasty like the Repticon show.

This show was perfect if you wanted to bring home some mites or some ticks (I am still itching thinking about it)

I have to try everything at least once, I did and I will never step a foot at a Repticon show again

    Re: Repticon Atlanta

I talked to a couple of the venders and they said from there point of view that was the best Atlanta show ever. They said they where selling lots of animals. They said everyone was spending money.
But from a spectator side it did suck. I only came home with a Jungle Carpet Python. You can't come home from a show empty handed!!!

I dunno Trey - I hope you have good QT for that Jungle - that place scared the bejesus out of me! Best show ever - you couldn't PAY me to vend at that show in the future. No way, no how. There's no way I'd put any of my animals at risk there, and the "clientele" did not appear to be well versed in the proper care of the animals they were purchasing. I care too much for my animals to sell in that kind of environment.

Yeah me and my family went down on Sat. I bought the 2 day deal. Needless to say I didn't return the next day. I talked to the guys that had the bumblebee and butterscotch ghost, and they seemed really shady to me. I didn't like the vibe of the show. I will never go to that one again. I know repticon has a show here in SC I haven't went to it but I'm going to try it. It's in Columbia. I hope it's better than the Atlanta one.

    Re: Repticon Atlanta

My boyfriend and I went down on Saturday and I agree, it was a bust. I did see 1 breeder there, don't remember which one, who had some really nice looking normal hatchlings though for $25 I think. I did not see any mites or ticks and I was looking closely. I thought very hard about getting one after inspecting him/her (heh, yeah they had not sexed them yet...) but my boyfriend vetoed it. It took way too long to convince him that 1 snake was okay ; )

And the dart frog breeders were very nice. I talked to them for a long time. Dart frogs are so adorable! Also picked up some moss from them for way cheap for my humidity hide.

But yes, for the most part it totally sucked, which was a shame because I had been looking forward to it for a long time. Having never been to a show like that before, I did feel like it was really dirty and unprofessional and I would not consider going to another if I did not really like herps.

It was Defiantly a bust, I went there once before and it was no where near as bad as it was last weekend. I will not be going again, there other GA shows that are much better.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Wait for the GA Herp Society show - it's also small, but better run. And those $25 hatchlings - was that on the table behind the dart frogs? All in deli cups? They were actually under-nourished, and if they didn't take the time to pre-sex them, likely late captive hatcheds from last year. Better to wait for the new 08 CH's to come in, in the next few months. I looked at those guys, all were on the thin side - too thin for my tastes.

Also, there's a group of us making a weekend of going to the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham if you and your boyfriend would like to join us!
