    Rosy/Sand boa

Hey, I'm doing a very FAST trade with someone for a snake rack and my tarantulas. Tonight I will end up with 6 new snakes, and I only know the care for the 2 RTBs I'm getting.

I'm going to be getting 2 Kenyan sad boas and a rosy boa tonight, and was wondering if anyone could send me links to good care sheets on them.. I will do some research in a couple of hours but I would love it if I could get some care sheets that people recommend!

Thanks for any help, I will post some pictures of the new additions tonight after I get everyone set up.. I'll be getting an 8' female RTB, 3' female RTB, 2 sand boas, rosy boa, and a young hognose.

I have one each of a KSB and a Rosy. Here are some great links that I used.

    Rosys:
    http://www.rosyboa.com/desertboas/caresheet.html
    http://www.localityrosys.com/husbandry_propogation.php
Only word of caution on these is they can't take high humidity. at about 60% (maybe even less) they can develop skin problems.

    KSB's:
    http://www.vpi.com/publications/keny...ation_and_care
    http://www.anapsid.org/kenyan.html

    KingSnake.com also has them.

    Good luck and enjoy them.

Thanks a lot for those Melissa! I had read over some sheets I found on the internet, but will read the ones you liked once I get everyone settled in.

I just got the 2 sand boas and the rosy about an hour ago, they're all cute little babies! I really think I'll enjoy them, I'll post some pictures later!

What little cuties! I love them! The KSB's look just like Morty, our KSB. Don't you love their little overbite? The Rosy is cute, too. Let me know if you have any picky eaters on your hands. Our KSB will still only eat live. The Rosy was given up for not eating, but we have him eating AND converted to F/T already.

    Enjoy!

Hi, I do think the little sand boas are adorable! I wasn't expecting their little faces to be so cute!
I'll let you know for sure if I need any help with feeding suggestions.. the breeder was feeding all of the baby snakes I got (rosy, sands, hognose) live pinkies, so even though its going to break my heart I'm going to go pick up some lives next week and see if they'll eat for me.
I've been able to get all my pythons to switch to f/t, so I'll try with these snakes as well but I'll continue to feed live if thats all they'll accept from me.

Edie...this is Micah. I figured I better register here to answer some of your questions.

the rosy was eating frozen thawed mouse pinks, dwarf hamster pinks, and even fresh rat pinks. He is not picky and never refuses any food be it live, frozen thawed or fresh killed.

The Kenyans are eating live pinky mice. I have gotten them to take frozen thawed but not very often.

the hognose is a Eastern not a Western it's a male and is eating frozen thawed mouse pinks scented with red spotted toads and canyon tree frogs. I later got him switched to canned salmon scented pinks. I have also used tuna juice.
I am sorry I forgot to bring you a frozen toad. I have some in the freezer and would be more than happy to meet up and give you some if you like. I just rub the thawed pink on the salmon or the toad. I keep the salmon frozen in the freezer there is no need to thaw it. I was using cheap canned salmon from Wally World. I have never tried a live pinky with him, he may take it. Also I would put him in a small deli cup for feeding, it seemed to work best if he was confined next to the prey item.

I am happy to see you asking questions and opinions.

I love the tarantulas and have them all setup. I have even been brave and picked 2 of them up !!!! I even got my wife to hold one, it was a Kodak moment !!! Thanks again, if you have any questions at all please let me know.

ps- if you check out my RG page and look at my classified ads, you will see pics of the hognose feeding on a mouse pink.

    Re: Rosy/Sand boa

    P.S. Micah..

I'm glad to hear the hognose and rosy can take f/t.. I have all of my snakes on f/t but have had to feed live to some picky eaters so I can do both.. I just prefer f/t!
I'll do f/t for the rosy and hognose on Thursday, and feed the sand boas live.. Did you feed any of the snakes in separate containers? Or just in the cage? And was it hard to feed the sand boas?

And which tarantulas did you and your wife hold? After the first few times it gets really easy Glad you guys are liking the tarantulas! I've had a lot of fun with them, you should try getting some s'lings, its fun to watch them grow! Just takes a really long time!
