Re: Ball Python on Today show....

Well, unless the Today show does a retraction, the damage is done. Hundreds of thousands more people are even more uninformed/misinformed than before.
And quite frankly, I don't believe that "I'm used to rock pythons" bull. If she was, she would be able to tell it was not a Rock.

I mean if I don't like scary movies (example), just because they make 'em doesn't mean they are puttin' me down. I was just making a comment. I don't mind, just found it odd.

On Topic: I can't belive they would put something like this on the air. ESPECIALLY with all the other crap going on.

Re: Ball Python on Today show....

Once I get home from work tonight I'm going to be doing three things.. Watching the video, sending 1 email to animal planet, 1 to the today show, 1 to the bumbling Dr.

Now I just need to work out the best way to word it that's not insulting!

Wow yeah this lady is some expert... NOT! Even I can tell the difference between a rock python and a bp, and I have only had snakes for a few months. C'mon now! And yeah I heard the boa thing too, she said something like " This could be a boa constrictor too". I say just stick to rhinos lady!

    but...

Lol, how is that username even allowed to be on this message board? Spix14? Maybe i'm the only one who gets it, living in Texas.
It's not what you think it is. I've already addressed this with an admin, but it is from the name of an endangered parrot, the Spix Macaw. Then 14 is my lucky number. I started using this sn after getting sick and tired of seeing "that username has already been taken" everywhere.

I'm not ashamed to admit that her accent has made it easier for me to forgiver her for her mistakes! She could have been reading the phone book for all I care and I probably would have hung on the edge of my seat waiting for the next listing.

But in all seriousness, I have to go separate my "breeding pairs"...........this whole time, I thought that they were all adults. Little did I know that these things top out at 20'

I am so overwhelmed by the idiocy of this error. It is not proper of her to pass it off on the station nor the station on her. They are both at fault.

I must need to get medicated - I am starting to get SOOOOOO DEPRESSED with this sort of crap in the news. They are ignorance breeders - and their ignorance CAN and DOES get up over 20'.

    Just my .

Let's stick to Snake Bytes TV and Reptile Radio for the real deal.

Re: Ball Python on Today show....

i get why everyone is upset but let me just say this...i have been a brewer for over 5 years. i often give tours of our facility and "teach" others how to give tours and answer questions. its okay to not know something and say "i dont know." what i tell the rookies when they are all nervous about giving tours is that the "beer geeks" who know how beer is made KNOW what they are looking at. they just want to see where we make our beer. the people who dont really know the really technical aspects of making beer for the most part really dont care. the just want to see where we make our beer.

so what i took so long to say is that as WE know and love our snakes and KNOW a ball python doesnt grow to 20 feet because we are interested in learning about them. the people who dont know probably dont care that she made that mistake. i'm quite sure that nobody tuned in to that show to get there daily dose of reptile education. that being said, the ones who are upset about this (me included) know the mistake. the ones who dont know, really dont care.
