Gulliver wont come out of his hide..

I just got a new pet ball python, (I brought him home on Thursday) and I fed him on Sunday. I think he was probably very hungry because his former owner hadn't fed him in six months. I had no problems getting him to eat, but now he won’t come out of his hide. Is this normal, or should I be worried?

When do you think he will be out and active again?

Ball pythons aren't known for being active unless there is some sort of stressor - it's normal for them to be inactive all day long and into the night - only active late at night while you're sleeping. They spend about 80% of their time in their hides.

Did you say the former owner hadn't fed him in 6 months!? Do you know if thats because the snake refused to eat or was the owner a prick? 6 months is a long time for any size snake.

Six months is nothing for ball pythons.

you might see him roaming late at night. They lay low alot, and where the heat is. Your heat under his hide box?

I don't think she offered him any food..
Like I said, I think he was hungry. As soon as I dropped the rat in his feeding tub, he was coiled around it and had it's head in his mouth.

Well, at least you know he's eating now! When I feed Vincent, he sits in his hide for 2 days before he comes out. Even at night.

I wouldn't worry about it, but sometimes I do sit and watch to make sure he's still alive when he's been sleeping for days.
