What do you use for cleaning/disinfecting?

For those of you who use newspaper or paper towels as substrate, when your snake defecates, what do you use to disinfect the area and remove the smell? I'm looking for a product that is safe to use around snakes and gets rid of the smell, and was wondering what you guys would recommend.

Once a month I bleach everything with a 10% bleach solution, the rest of the time I use this http://www.agri-med.com/site/255063/product/CHLRHX2SOL

Re: What do you use for cleaning/disinfecting?

several years ago i went to my vet to get some nolvsan and she recommended a product called A-33 DRY and i've been using it ever since.

it's a detergent/disinfectant/odor counteractant.it has a pleasant smell and doesn't dry out my hands like bleach water.

if you want to try it PM me your addy and i'll send you enough to make a gallon.hope that helps!

I used to use Chlorhexidine but recently switched to using Kennel-Sol on the advice of our vet. This stuff will kill most germs and bacteria and works great.

Here's the fact sheet from the company that makes it. It is mixed 1:64 with water so a gallon lasts a LONG time

I use a mild bleach solution to clean couplers (water dish holders) and tubs about on a monthly basis.
