A million years ago I was a CNA in a nursing home. I very much hated the disrespect that the elders received. Their end of life was treated as chore to be done in the least amount of time possible so that you could finish the rounds on the section of the floor you were responsible for in the alloted time. Yuck. Needless to say, that was not my style. Since I did my job well, they could not fire me but made my life at work insufferable and then actually paid me to leave! Incredible!
I must say though that things are changing. Many Baby Boomers will not choose to have their care in that sort of environment. More and more people are choosing in-home care and this, in my opinion, can only be better. I am happy that there is a good person, a person to give care, to the elders in your charge. Everyone deserves dignity and so much more, in their final lifetime cycle and I am glad that there is at least one other person who feels the same way.
BTW, kudos for buying the hoodie for the child. I usually buy prescriptions for those who can't afford it~ and never forget that there are a lot of people like us.....![]()
