Is the heat tape/pad hidden in a slot? Or just underneath and does it touch the bottem, or is it raised a little like having a edge around it or feet?

does it hold humidity and heat well? like will it escape easy like a tank, or is it pretty easy to keep in?

And lastly do you use heat tape? and does a peice of correct size keep the whole tank warm at the correct gradient once on thermostat?

Anyway, sorry for all the questions.

I was thinking 14" because i always see mine climbing the branch he has, Maybe he thinks hes a GTP. I figured for 5 bucks 2" would give it a little more, but if its more trouble then worth then i wont.

But it does look great and helps a ton, Thanks.
I never mind questions. Yes, that cage is quite steady and strong. Rich really does a good job on his stuff.

It's heated on the warm side with built in 11" flexwatt, and the cool side will have an 11"x17" Ultratherm pad inside covered with vinyl floor tiles. I tried putting it under the cage, but the plastic is too thick and the heat didn't get through right.

It holds heat very well and has tiny spaces around the doors and slits in the upper back for ventilation. My only problem was humidity...but that will be easily fixed by a nice humidifier. Anyway, it's dry here.

If placed properly (the only spot I can put it in is against two outside walls and near a window ), the cage should be able to hold a proper gradient with just the 22" long piece of 11" flex that's there already. Since I live in CO, it was winter when I got it set up, and the place it was set was bad, I had a lot of trouble with mine. Overall, those RBI cages are really good.
