The heat and humidity is easier in a enclosed rack. I love my racks, and will be getting(building?) more later on, as some of my snakes are outgrowing the smaller tubs now.

Like I said before, even if not for her objection, I'd probably stick with live feeding.

Same here. That was a year ago. Now I have 18 snakes in my condo with 3 more on the way. I started with a 3 high rack, then a 7 high. Now I have two 7's a 4 high and I started building a 16 tub rack today. I get chewed out every time I get a new snake, but it's worth it. Go with the 3 or 4 high and tell your wife the extra shelves are for supplies. Just remember, it's easier to ask for and get forgiveness than it is to ask for and get permission.

I totally agree with you here!! If it were up to my husband, his limit on animals was back when we had just the 2 dogs and 3 cats that we have. When I brought home the 1st BP he was so mad he didn't speak to me for a few days. Although now he is interested in how much all the kids, especially the older ones, like all 3 of my snakes (amongst all the other animals). He still won't touch them though...LOL. So now we are 3 cockatiels, 2 BPs, 1 cornsnake, 6 rats, a tank of feeder mice, and in a couple of months 1 bearded dragon past the 2 dogs and 3 cats animal limit in my house. LOL!!

Sounds alot like my house! My husband was very content with his cat before he met me, and over the years i have slowly added up the zoo!

We now have 3 dogs (2 boxers and a husky), one cat, one chinchilla (used to be two but recently lost one), a rabbit and of course my BP - and with two on the way.

each time he is in a mood with me and quite possibly hates me, but after a week he loves the new additions just as much as the rest of the family.

He even has fallen in love with one of the feeder mice that we got this week and has asked that i keep her back for breeding.

How much larger than the tubs should I make the rack? Maybe half an inch around? I'm gonna add a bit more height, to allow for breathing room for the UTH.

I think I'm gonna find some broken office furniture at work (we've closed a number of offices, and are storing lots of furniture), and borrow a few of the rails for keyboard trays or drawers.

You know... Adam keeps telling me no more pets but snakes are okay (he loves kitty)... But that whole.... Easier to ask permission thing.... Should have thought of that one way back when... He's said no enough times and to just about every species of animal other than snakes by now that I couldn't get away with the forgiveness excuse.

I have really expensive tastes in guitars, too, so it would be quite foolish of me to push the snake issue while I'm already ahead

Same here! My husband nearly croaked when I begged for a puppy a million years ago; he considered himself an animal lover of other people's animals! Well, I couldn't deal with that! We have 2 dogs (just lost the third to old age), we'll be getting another pup in December, we have 14 balls, 2 boas, 1 cat, and at the ranch we will have *everything*!!! Husbands are so fun when they don't resist to personal growth!!!!
