    Free ad section

I have been noticing a lot a new members joining and just posting ads and never contributing anything to the community. I am curious if anyone else is bothered by this or considers it rude.

i find it ruder when people only show up during breeding, post pics of their snakes. Send lots of fake hugs and then run off for another 8 months or so.

One of the goals of the sites is to connect breeders to buyers. Best way to combat that is to buy from those you know and trust.

But it happens every breeding season... people go to their list of favorites and exploit every reptle site's classifieds for a sale.

    Personally, doesn't bug me.

This bothers me also. I would not buy from people like this, because I have no rapport with them and don't even know who they are!

    Re: Free ad section

It doesn't really bother me. I do get a little irritated with the fly-by-night breeders that spam the ad forum in the Spring, but I would much rather have someone try to find a good home for their unwanted Ball on this site than giving it way on Craigslist to an impulse buyer.

Plus, the restrictions on the ads assure that they aren't on the front page very long.

    Re: Free ad section

Being a bit elitist aren't you? The choice of buying from them or not is still up to you, as is your choice to skip their ads. Look at it in a positive way; suppose someone googles for an albino BP for sale, they get a link here, where they have never been, and discover this website and become a new and valued member.

New, tighter restrictions were already put into place last year regarding the classifieds, I'm not sure that further restrictions are warranted, IMHO.

That bugs me too, Bruce - especially when they don't even help in answering beginner keeper questions in hubandry and general. I'd much prefer they participate year round and remember that they were once new to the hobby themselves and give back to the community by sharing their experiences and what works for them - rather than only replying to threads where they can show of their animals. I can dream can't I?
