Why put yourself through the pickle of having to chose between the two? Just get both of them!

Re: Corns vs. Balls?
The other difference about corns is they are poop machines and the left overs are runnier (I don't know if thats really a word) and smell is stronger. You will be cleaning alot more with corn around. Like has been said the corns are more active and will be out during the day for viewing. They are pretty inquisitive and will check out everything in their cages and use all of their cage. They are wiggle a lot more. Corns are more apt to escape if you give them the opportunity (they can move pretty fast) and are generally more aggressive feeding so I'm a little more cautious with them when I take them out. Balls tend to stay in their hides a majority of the time (unless they are hungry) and aren't active like corns during the day. They can be picky eaters and go off feed for no apparent reason. Some like the calmness of the ball pythons and they are easier to handle. I also like the thickness of ball pythons compared to the more slender corns. Overall I like them both and depending on my mood could go either way at any time.

Re: Corns vs. Balls?
I have both and couldn't choose a favorite. They are both interesting in their own ways.
I think basically everyone else that posted before me has said what I would have said. My corn is much faster and would take off in an instant if I let him. I can't let mine go and have to keep my eye on him every second, whereas with the BPs, they could just stay on my lap while I am watching tv. And mine also poops much more often and is a bit stinkier. I find that I am changing the bedding in his tank more often. I also see my corn more often outside of his hides than the BPs are. And mine also has no problems eating. Whatever you put in front of him he will eat, whether it is f/t or live rat pinks, he will eat it.
They are both neat, so good luck if you decide to get one!! Like you said, the hardest decision is which corn morph to get first!!

Well you could get the blood lav combo. Which I have hets for, just give me 2-3 years, and Ill trade ya for some balls!
I obviously own both, and love corns, but not as much as balls. Don't know why, just do. Could be that I like some of the morphs better, but balls don't have as many yet. Racks are the way to go with corns, just buy one, and change the tubs as they get older, my corns only trade tubs once through there life time. From a 6 qt to a 28qt. Corns are pretty easy to take care of, thats why I recomend them as a first snake over a ball. Good luck to you and your future snakes!
Another thing. They can be nippy as babies, but they don't drawl blood like balls do as babies, with some handling it goes away, but out of the 7 corns I own, only one is nippy, because he is the spawn of satan. You will be able to pick a docile babie pretty easily.

Re: Corns vs. Balls?
There is nothing better for me than coming home from a long day to see my corn, completely under his substrate with only his head sticking out and looking at me.
They are the cutest things ever and super easy to care for. I hear you guys about the poop though; definitely runnier and smellier than BP's.

Re: Corns vs. Balls?
I haven't ever actually owned a corn, but I took care of quite a few babies...I can honestly say baby corns seem quite a bit more fiesty than baby balls. I got tagged a time or two by the balls, but it was always the corns that would actually bite and hold on...one little guy mistook my pinkie for a PINKIE, and was doing his darndest to digest it. A squirt of cold water changed his mind, though.
The ball bites did sting a bit more, though.
But, nothing against corns. The adults I've seen are sweet as can be, and they have plenty of morphs to choose from.

Re: Corns vs. Balls?
We have bred both for some time now. Something else to consider when comparing the two.......corns generally breed like clockwork. If you are interested in going down that road in a few years you shouldn't have a problem getting eggs from corns. Some times I feel like breeding the balls is a type of long term scientific experiment. The corns go into brumation, come out a few months later (down time of no feeding bill) , eat, shed, and breed. I have also found that even the eggs of cornsnakes are more forgiving of temp gradient etc.
Ball pythons for whatever reason have always been my fav., but you can't beat the color options on corns. We started out breeding around 10, now we have 40 adults and 40 hold back babies. And if you like purple the lav. bloods are starting to come down to a good price.....
Ball Pythons, Blood Pythons, Corn Snakes, King Snakes, and Leopard Geckos.
