    Ahhh Mites!

Ok so Im not really freaked out actually but I found ONE single mite on my bp. I have no clue where it came from but I was at a pet store today with reptiles in it. (I did not handle any of them) I did buy a new bulb though. I put the bulb in and about half an hour later took my bp out to give him a little soak because he had an eye cap(which came off) but when i brought him to the tub I saw the mite and picked it off and killed it. I examined him closely and that was the only one. So I tore his enclosure apart. I took out EVERYTHING, baked his hides, sprayed all of the fake plants and everything else with non-toxic sanitizer and rinsed thoroughly. I sprayed his entire tank then rinsed and wiped dry. New substrate too of course. Is it probable that the mite came from the pet store? Where else could it come from??

    Re: Ahhh Mites!

Very possible...It had to come from somewhere, they just don't appear. I would keep a close eye on him and keep looking for more mites, you will probally find more. I have never seen just one without finding more later. If you do find more we will talk you through eliminating them. There are several ways and all may work. I have a proven way because I have bought home mites from the pet stors a couple of times.
