mojave x normal.. what is ratio of offspring? +questions

Darren and I are trying to figure out what we want to produce for the late 08 season.. we already have two normal females that will be ready by the end of the season and we have one male pastel who will be ready for breeding. So we know we will breed him to at least one of the normals but instead of only making pastels and normals were thinking about picking up our male mojave too, we will need him eventually for "Friday" so why not kill two birds with one stone and at least start producing mojaves this year.

What is the ratio, isnt it 50% Mojave 50% normals?

If I get a male similar to "Friday" (lots of blushing) but breed him to my darker female Sidney wont the chances of having high blushing babies be decreased? Should I breed him to Arian who is a lighter normal? Would my Pastels come out darker because of being bred to a darker female??

Thanks!! any input would be very helpful.. were going to start shopping around for a male mojave this week.

I'm not sure of any of the answers for your other questions but as far as the ratio goes...note that the clutch will not always be %50 normals 50% mojaves. The ratio is actually PER individual snake. For each individual hatchling, it has a 50% chance of being normal or a 50% chance of being mojave. You could get all normals, all mojaves, a 50-50 split or 1 mojave and the rest normals. You won't know till they hatch.
    Under Construction.....

You really never know. Out of 8 eggs from mojave x hypo I got 6 mojos and 2 hets. And 4 freak mojos out of 10 eggs. And out of 6 eggs from a pastel x normal I got 0 pastels 6 normals.

I read somewhere that if you breed a pastel to a darker pastel, nicer pastels should be the product.

yeah but i meant breeding a dark normal to a pastel... sidney, is a very dark female.
    Sidney

    Arian

    Hazard:male pastel

hypothetically speaking wouldnt you get better looking pastels from arian than sidney? what about mojos, would arian also make better looking mojos?

    YES

Breeding selectively is something people tend not to do as much anymore, but yes, Lighter normals will produce better pastels, mojos, lessers, etc...

Darkers animals will produce better Albinos, Black Pastels, Cinnies, etc....

i figured...but if we choose to use her, wouldnt it be better to breed arian to the mojave since mojos are worth more than pastels? keep sidney for the pastel since we already have her we would use her anyway.

how do you make a black pastel?
