    Popping Snakes

How old is too old to sex your snake by popping? And can this be done on pythons? I would assume so but I'd only ever seen it done to corn snake hatchlings.

Age really isn't a factor, but it becomes more difficult to pop adult animals, but if you are skilled, it can be done.

Somehow I doubt anyone is trying to pop an 18 foot retic. At some point probing seems like a better option.

I can pop a burm up till it hits about 5 feet-then it becomes extremely difficult to do and usually go with probing then.

    Re: Popping Snakes

Well, I just gave it a shot with my ball python, and he is definately a boy! Carpet python didn't have anything pop out at me, but I guess that doesn't neccesarily mean anything? How good is their, er, control? I'm being very gentle, and the Ball's hemipenes popped right out. I would imagine that means the Carpet is a girl? Hmmm...carpalls anyone?
