    Getting a tarantula...

    i'm so stoked!

trying to decide between a pink toe and a chilean rose. what would you recommend?

are the pink toes difficult to take care of?

what is the best plant to put in with the pink toe?

i am leaning towards the pink toe because i saw it at the pet store today and i love the way it was moving around. i saw the web it spun which was also really cool. it reminds me of like this youthful and energetic spirit.

i see the chilean rose as this like, laid back, peaceful, and wise type. like an old tree.

do the chilean rose tarantulas move much? when i saw it at the pet shop tonight it was about to moult so it was kind of not moving at all.

i'm having a really difficult time deciding between the two.

both sound so awesome and different.

Chilean Rose Tarantula's (Grammastola porteri) have to be the weirdest T's I've actually dealt with. Not so much with appearance, but more in activity and personality. You'll have some that are completely pup tame, while others are freak chain saws. The other thing is they have weird habits. I'd have one that would hang from the top of its enclosure by its fangs every night for no apparent reason.

I've never owned Avics, but I have worked with them. They like to fling poo when they jump

Both are very good beginners. What it really boils down to on this, is your personal preference. Buy what you like. Go with what interests you more.

okay i've decided on the pink toe.

they are really cool little creatures.

now, i am getting a tank to put it in. i'm not sure the size. like, how big is too big and how small is too small? if i get it very big, will it confuse the poor little guy?

    Re: Getting a tarantula...

I have an A. versicolor that is about 3.5" long right now. I am housing her in a tall snapware container that I vented myself, and will move her into a larger exoterra display cage once shes fully grown. Just be sure the cage/container you get has good ventilation, and focuses on vertical space.

Be careful because they can get pretty fast when out of their cage, and they do poop on you! Mine sticks her butt right up and does her business whenever I take her out.

    Heres my lady

I'm not entirely sure, but I could shoot him an e-mail and ask. When I seen them, I thought they were wicked cool too. Perfect sizes as well.
