When i have him out.. if he is consantly roaming ill have him out for like 30 mins but if hes mellow and chills in one spot the ill have him our for an hour or two but iam not sayin this is right idk but this is what i do.
I've been told to just hold them as much as you can and want. Three times a day if you can is good. Keep in mind that if they strike you do not put them back you do not want to reward badk behavior. After awhile they will get used to you. I usually hold mind anywhere from 20minutes to an hour. If she is squirmish in my hands I will stand up and droop her over my neck and she will coil around it and stay there for awhile.
When you get a new ball python, it is a good idea not to handle them until they have eaten regularly for you a few weeks in a row. When they eat regularly, it is pretty safe to assume they are well-acclimated to their new environment. I wouldn't handle him for 24-48 hours after he has fed, as this may cause him to regurgitate his food. Other than during those periods of time, you may handle him quite frequently as long as he is not getting cold. In the beginning it is probably a good idea to keep your handling sessions pretty short so he does not get too stressed out. As an average, once or twice a day for about 15 minutes should be enough to teach him you are not going to hurt him.
i usually handle mine every day (execpt after feeding) for at least 15 min, but on average a good 30 min to over an hour. i regularly hold mine through an entire 2 hour movie. the key is letting them do as they please and not wigglin your fingers all over them if you get what i mean.
if they are eating well and just kind of lazily move round when being handled they re in a good mood and can be handled as much as you like really.
if they arent eating, or constantly try to dash away or strink when handled they are stressed out and you should leave them alone in the cage and make sure the temps etc are all correct.
15 - 90 minutes a day USUALLY except when shedding or feeding. I try not to handle at all on feeding day either before or after I feed and then I wait about 24 hours before I handle him again if he's willing otherwise he gets as much time as he needs.
