Nolvasan S (http://www.petvetsupply.com/dismfra001.html) isn't chlorhexidine gluconate but chlorhexidine diacetate, which is "mildly to moderately toxic when administered by inhalation, oral and dermal routes" (EPA). In highly diluted form, chlorhexidine gluconate is used in human mouthwash. Unfortunately, both of these disinfectants are discussed and sometimes marketed under the names "Novalsan," "Virosan" or just "chlorhexidine." The "Novalsan" sold by (the excellent) ProExotics is chlorhexidine glucate, for example.
