terrarium temps

I am a new BP owner. I have installed a digital thermometer/ hydrometer in the terrarium. The unit is situated on the cool side of my tank and is reading 79 F with a humidity reading of 65. The probe is under the substrate in the center of the uth and is reading 92. Is it necessary for me to take the ambient temp of the warm side as well as the ground temp? Or the just monitoring the heat from the uth enough?

Temps can vary greatly from the UTH to above the substrate on ground level...I would put the probe at ground level and see if you encounter a big difference in temps from when you had the probe under the substrate; afterwords you can decide which temps you feel most comfortable monitoring.

I agree with Rich, but temps will decrease over thick amounts of substrate!
