using tanks, need advice
I am new to breeding Rats and Mice and I am using glass tanks. I prefer the tanks because I KNOW they won't get out... and I had the exra tanks to use anyway.
The tanks are kept in the garage so they are rarely disturbed thru the day.
The mouse tank is a 10 gallon tank with one male and 2 females. I have a little igloo hide and an exercize wheel. The other night when the male was trying to do his thing with one of the ladies, she kept either hiding behind the hide, or would get on the wheel making it impossible for him to do his thing. the next morning there was no plug.. and that leads me to believe that she sucsessfuly fought him off.
The rat tank is a 20 gallon long, also with one male and 2 females. All I have in this tank is one large igloo hide. Last night the male was finally trying to do his thing to one of the ladies, and like the mouse, she kept climbing into the tight corner behind the igloo to avoid him.... I checked back an hour or so later and he was sound asleep with a disapointed look on his face...
So, the question.... would I be better off if I took the hides out during the 2 weeks of breeding time? and the mice.. should i also take the wheel out during breeding time? then put them back in when i take the male out of the tank?
Please share your thoughts!
thanks!

heeey
Sounds to me from what I read about what's goin on in you're tank with the females hiding and basically trying to get away...i'd take out the hiding spots and the wheel untill you know for sure that everything was a success.... alrighty well good luck!!!
