Need help with XP and game controller

    Hey,
I got a question. I am trying to hook up and old analogue game controller to my laptop. The thing is that it uses one of those db15 plugs which my computer obviously doesn't have. I got a cable that goes from a db15 to usb, however I can't get windows to recognize that there is even anything plugged in at all. Do you know of what I can do? Thanks.

It is most likely a driver issue. From my experience in tech support, those things are about 50/50 on whether you will get them to work. You'll need to go into your Device Manager (Right click "My Computer, go to Properties. Click Hardware, then Device Manager). Once you are in the device manager, plug in the joystick using the adapter cable. If your computer sees the cable being plugged in, you may see a flash in the device manager, then something should show up with a yellow "?" or "!" next to it. Double click whatever it is and you should see a button to reinstall drivers. At this point, if your cable came with a disk, put it in and let the drivers install. If it did not, you may need to download drivers from the cable manufacturer's website. Good luck with it...

I was just going to say it sounds like you need driver support...

Re: Need help with XP and game controller

Well, I figured out my problem. I called the manufacturer of the game controller and the cable that I have only works for certain analogue sidewinder joysticks. They pointed me in the right direction of a cable that will work with my joystick and that they support. So hopefully this next one will work.
