Want More Snakes!
I need to move out of my parents house asap. I have that I can't have more snakes in the house. I'm stuck down the basement and they don't even see my babies.
Anyone else out there have this problem?

My kids don't have this problem with me, but every family is different. Since you are living at home, your parents might feel as though the final choice is theirs to make. I can understand that. Maybe you could try to negotiate with your folks; maybe barter extra chores or ? for them allowing you to board your snakes. Perhaps a dialog regarding what their concern is....
Good luck!

One of the only truly fantastic things about surviving childhood, adolescence, high school, etc.... is that as an adult, you have the final say about what happens in your home, regardless of how reasonable it may seem.
Respect your parents wishes, and be thankful that they let you keep the snakes you have.

Re: Want More Snakes!
Since I already gave my "I'm a responsible adult" answer, here's a counter to it....
When I still lived at home, my mom said "no snakes". So, instead I brought home several tarantulas, two scorpions, an alligator lizard, 3 or 4 anoles, an iguana, and some other goofy lizard, plus I started a cricket hatchery in the bathroom

Re: Want More Snakes!
My parents wouldn't let me have a snake will I lived at home. So as soon as I moved out I got one. Now two years later I have 48. Just be patient. At least you get to have one now.

Re: Want More Snakes!
When I was living at home I had that problem with limits. Then I moved out and got married and as it turns out. . .I still have limits.
I could only have two and after intense bugging of the wife, I can have two. Maybe by the time I'm 60, I'll be up to 3 snakes.

Re: Want More Snakes!
I remember those rules. It wasn't even me that disobeyed the rules. Other family members would give me pets as gifts and my parents just stopped telling me no. Years later my only limitation is my financial status and the square footage of my home. Any gift list I ever give out is all critter supplies or gift cards to pet stores or hobby shops. I will always have a full house and despite my parents trying to tell me that I would be miserable with tons of pets and no money for myself.. I don't mind one bit! I willingly spend every cent I have on my collection of critters and always will.

I was lucky. My parents were fine with snakes, they just didn't like hamsters, mice, etc.

Re: Want More Snakes!
I was never really too into snakes when I lived home...we have 5 dogs and 3 cats so I was never too concerned, but the first time I visited I brought my ball/black milk with me...my mom loved them..she even put my ball python on her head and chased my father around (not too fond of reptiles)...I always went with the theory "apologizing is better than asking for permission"
