Feeding help...

Hey everyone,

I just recently bought two Leopard Geckos, but one of them will not eat. I'm trying to feed live crickets, but she acts completely uninterested. I'm getting worried, any tips?

Btw, the husbandry is spot on.

Well what exactly are your temps? How are you measuring them?
What is your setup like, please describe it. Also are they housed together or separately?

Also how recently did you buy them? They need at least a week to adjust to their new surroundings. I have had some go 11 days before they'd eat.

88-90 on the hot side, around 80 on the cool side. I'm measuring them with an Acu-rite thermometer. I'm using a UTH that's regulated by a rheostat. They are in a tub on paper towels. I'm housing the two babies together (since they are very young)..

I bought them 3 days ago. Is it too soon to be feeding them?

Sounds good. Although you may want to separate them. Even as babies there can be territorial issues. I have witnessed that with two female babies. One would eat all the food, wouldn't let the other one in any of the hides etc. There doesn't necessarily have to be physical fighting for there to be problems.

With them only being in your care for 3 days, they are definitely still adjusting to their new environment. Give them about a week to really start eating, although continue offering food every evening as normal. Just no handling. Leave them be except to feed and water.

If the one isn't eating within the next week or so I would seriously consider separating them and see if that is the problem
