Iphone
Less than ten days and my Nextel contract is up.So I'm debating whether or not to get the magical Iphone. One of my friends has it and he loves it, and well I love taking it and playing around with it. I want to know what everyone else who has one or has used one thinks of the Iphone. Do you think It's a good buy?

Re: Iphone
I was just on apple.com and they have one year warranty that covers if anything breaks and then within one year of buying the phone you can purchase an additional two year coverage plan for like 60$ or something like that.

Re: Iphone
I wonder why they don't have insurance on it. I would think they would of thought sales maybe would of been better than they were not that they were bad when it came out but they would be better if they offered insurance.
But you love it? I've been looking at if ever since it came out and counting the days till my nextel contract is up. Which I just paid my last bill of owning my nextel and cannot wait till cancel it.

I don't like the idea that you are still stuck with only 1 plan provider. I'd like some more options.

If you buy through a place like Best Buy or Future Shop, can't you get an in-house extended warranty?
I always buy those, and use them. In fact, it was the manager of a Staples who told me about how great they can be when they are no-quibble (such as the "that was easy" return/exchange policies of Staples Business Depot). You buy the item you want, which comes with usually comes with a years insurance through the manufacturer, right? Then you spend $X on an in-store insurance plan so that after the initial year, you can return the item to the store itself in case anything goes wrong.
Most places either then exchange it for a new one, or upgrade you to the next best model if the one you own is already discontinued.
This would be perfect for an iPhone, which will undoubtedly be upgraded within a year anyway.
The fantastic thing about places like Best Buy and Staples is that when you return an expensive item (like a big-scree computer monitor) they will also give you a refund (in the way of an in-store credit) for the difference in the price from the day you bought it to what it is currently selling for.
I took back a monitor after nearly 2 years of use, even though it was fine, and received $90 and a new monitor.
Remember; it was the manager of the store who explained all of this to me in great detail. She even said that at home she has all the 'return' dates of the expensive items she buys listed on the calendar.
So, if you are worried about not having insurance, buy through a big-chain business that offers extended in-house warranties.
I bought my sister a 16 gig iPod Touch for Yule and also got the 2-year extended warranty. I guarantee that within three years (1 year manufacturer + 2 years in-house) there will be a better iPod Touch and we will just return the old one, get a refund on the difference in price, and the new iPod.
Snaps!
PS: Whenever buying any device with an LCD display, check it carefully for dead pixils within the first 24/h. If you see even one, no matter how tiny it is, return it immediately for an exchange. If you see 1 within 24/h, I promise you there are 50 just waiting to ambush you the after day the exchange period ends. I speak from personal experience. Also, the first iPod I got my sister had 2 dead pixils so I exchanged it, and guess what? Because I wanted until Jan 7th to do it, I got an upgraded iPod Touch which had just been released. Ha!

Re: Iphone
I bought one for me and one for my girlfriend back in July. She loves hers and is still using it. I was not very happy with the reception fluctuation so to Ebay it went. It's a very cool phone none the less. I found that the cool factor went away after a couple of weeks for me though.
