    A trade deal, opinions needed!!!

I have come across a work trade with a local pet shop, a ball python morph, for a full website. (catalog included)

What would you suggest i shoot for, morph wise?
i know i want more than just a normal. I would also like a female, but if i can get something like an albino, I would take a male albino in a second...

PS baby balls not full grown.

if your happy with the quality of the animal you would be getting, it sounds like it might be a fun trade for you. Let us know what you work out!

I'd find out exactly what they are looking for, then give them an estimate of trade value broke down into price per hour. When you're all finished add up your time and any other expenses and pick out something in your range. If you're charging $25/trade an hour and it looks like it will take you 16 hours to complete, you're looking at $400. in other words, a mojave male, spider, nice female pastel or YB. If you do $200 worth of work, you can't ask for an albino, and if you do $600 worth of work you wouldn't ask for a male pastel.

Back in 2000 I built a website from scratch for a medical laser company, and even with the CGI scripts, layout and the slide scanner I had to buy the invoice was only $1,100. With the hourly price down from then, unless you are creating a flash site and using databases, etc., I can't see a petshop site being worth an albino. If you can milk it without looking like a slacker I'd say go for the nicest snake you can.

Well I am not sure what you are looking for. Other then you saying you would like an albino. Males and Female babies run about the same not much difference.

Now this is what I would do. What do you charge for a normal site like that. Lets say this.

you charge 500 for a site like they want then I would ask for a 500 dollar snake at their asking price.

If you ask 500 and you want a snake that ranges more then pay the diffence or see if they will make a deal.

You could always get cash too and buy the snake you want.........

Albinos are down to around 600 to 700

Re: A trade deal, opinions needed!!!

I think I would start out by asking what they are willing to offer. If it doesn't seem like a fair trade then I'd start haggling from there. I wouldn't even consider doing it for a normal!

Will you have to maintain and update the site after it goes live or just design and build it?

When I sold my website, I had been contacted by somebody after the sale who was also interested. She made me an offer to build her a duplicate site which was nearly double of what I sold the site for in the first place. I got a fair price for my site but I guess it was just worth more to her than that. My point is, the site may be worth more to them than you think it is and if you sell yourself short, you could be missing out, like I did.
