bp acting funny
i have had my bp for about a month and a half now.he is usally really active at night but he just got done shedding on monday and he ate his first rat on tuesday but he hasnt left his hide yet.i know its normal for them to hide alot but im just wondering if there could be something wrong with him since he is usually very active and always crawls right to my hand when i put it in there to take him out.thanks

Sounds perfectly normal to me. I tend to wonder what's up with mine when I see them wandering a lot, rather than sleeping in their little caves.

Ditto... When mine cruises around any day other than feeding day I tend to go over and ask her whats wrong....

hmm well i guess ill try to handle him tonite.im still a little scared of picking him up thats why i usually waited till he was out and let him come out on his own.i dont know why even thought i handled him daily with the execption of the adjustement period and the days after he eats im still scared to just pick him up i guess im just more comfortable when he comes to my hand willingly

Give yourself time. You'll get used to him, and learn how to read his "body language" as well.

Re: bp acting funny
Mine always hide alot right after eating, two days or so. I guess after they digest most of it they are usually up to no good again!

Re: bp acting funny
well i took him out after my last post that night and he wrapped around my arm and rested his head on me for the whole 10 minutes and tonite after i handled him he is still hiding but he has his head and about 3 to inches outside the hide.i think it just took him longer to digest cuz it was his first rat.he seems like his usual self now

Re: bp acting funny
You'll often see ball pythons lurking (the behaviour you described of peeking out of their hide). They'll do that to watch for prey to wander by or just watch the world from the relative safety of having most of their body still inside the hide. I love lurking snakes!
