    average BP food cost month/year...

Right now I just have two BPs but I want to get 5-8 more so I am curious how much other owners spend on food to get to breeding size. Also is it cheaper for frozen do to lack of storage cost, or live and let feeders breed to make the food. I feed mine frozen mice hoppers I get from reptile fair for 45cents each, after my months supply over I will switch to rats due to post i read about how rats are better than mice for weight... Thanks

Well you can spend a lot, figure the price of a small rat times 8 or so a week times 4 weeks. I spend about 2.50 for a small to med sized rat, live not frozen. On top of that you figure two years to get to breeding size. So by those numbers close to 2 grand over that time span. This could be less if you get a good deal online and buy in bulk f/t. The only thing with breeding your own feeders is that it takes alot of breeders to produce enough food for your snakes. From what i understand there is a couple month cycle for a female to reproduce, raise and then recover before breeding again.
Then just remember after you have babies you need to house and feed them, even if you only produce a couple clutches a year you could still end up with 10-20 more lil hungry guys to feed. So it can really add up!

Calculate $1 per week each animal for the first year or so, $2-$3afterwards for the rest of its life.

Don't forget about money you're gonna spend on the enclosure.

it starts out at one or two. then somehow over night you have 50 then boom 100 pluss. bp's are like coke they are addictive. my feed bill is about 400 a month before i started breeding my own.

1 Feeder cost me about 37 cents to produce so it depends whom I feed and how many he gets fed

if i were you with that many snakes i would consider breeding my own feed in a shed or garage. if you are looking to just buy the food it is going to cost you about 30$ per 10 days with 5 med-large size BP's and (around 100$ a month for only food) and about 50$ per 10 days with 8 med-large size BP's (bout 150$ a month) if you dont mind me asking i was wondering if you where you planning on starting some kind of breeding facility?
