    Arrow Would you do this?

    Just another quick poll.

Would you take the crappiest job in the world if that ment you could like in your favorite place in the world?

example: You hate office work but love hawaii. You're offered a job that covers all of your living expense and gives you some extra spending money. It means you work full time in an office you hate, the people are rude, managament is condesending, your job just plan sucks. But you get to live comfortably in Hawaii.

    Would you do it?

Nope- I would not. Life is in the day to day; the every breath. A crummy work day consumes so many hours... what a waste of life.
Here's an idea: live where you want and find a job you don't mind doing. Create your own reality.

I would clean toilets on the beach in the Bahamas any day of the week!

Starmom hit the nail on the head. what would be the point if you're spending 40+ hours a week doing something you hate.

I voted no - when your work is crappy, it seeps into the rest of your life. Not worth the "payoff" to me.

I voted yes, even if the job is crappy once you are there you can always look for something better.

    Re: Would you do this?

I've worked in a job with people I hated and task that I loathed....I'll never do that again. The stress meant that when I got home I was miserable and crabby, and my days off never seemed long enough...I'd spend half my time off dreading having to go back. I'd far rather do what I love and live in a mediocre environmennt.

    Re: Would you do this?

I voted yes, because I think that sometimes you have do have to view what you do for a living is simply a means to a greater end. It may be a generational thing for me as I am older and was raised by my grandparents, but I grew up with a work ethic that said you do what you do to make ends meet. Being guaranteed that you'll completely enjoy that work wasn't part of that package. If you were lucky and loved your work, all the better but if you didn't, no big deal, you just showed up and did the best you could do.

I've had jobs that I loved but were incredibly stressful just by virtue of the type of job it was. I had to learn that on the drive home from work, I let work go. Work was work, home was home. I've had other jobs I hated for some reason but that job supported something in my life that needed done.....so you make the best of it until you find something else that can replace it.

For me, if someone offered me a job that would give my family a wonderful place to live and the money to afford a certain lifestyle and all it cost me was to be less than thrilled about my job, I'd be there on Monday with bells on! LOL

    Re: Would you do this?

    Would depend on the job.

A soul sucking emotionally draining job. Nah, not worth it. That just seeps into your psyche and messes up everything outside of work.

A crappy job that I could walk away from at the end of the day. In a second.

Cleaning toilets in the Bahamas... *WOO HOO*

Running a sweat shop in Malaysia (or LA)... not so much.
