Re: Neighbors...from the land of loud

Well, it all started with my husband alone being the one to look for housing. I was still in Indiana and he was out here staying on the ship. I love him dearly but details are not his strong point.
Trying to find a personally owned apartment or house out here is like finding hens teeth, the last time our lease was coming up I looked all over, heck I even looked in the surrounding towns. By the time I found a place and had contacted the person so I could go look at it someone else had already submitted their credit check and 90% of the time it was already accepted.
This lease is up in June and I'll start looking the end of January but it does get difficult, not to mention Ryan doesn't want me to move because he'll be on deployment and is afraid I'll have to move all of our belongings down the four flights of stairs all by myself.

But oooohh, oh this place does NOT have rave reviews from me. In fact I've reviewed it on every site I can find trying to warn people to NOT come here. Various reasons, but it's not a good place.

I miss the places in Indiana, to rent most places you need references, that's it. And while I was home I made myself ill looking at the classifieds, HOUSES for rent for much less then we're paying for this postage stamp. HOUSES dagnabit! *sigh* Just gotta make it til '09 then I can move back to Indiana and be the hermit I am meant to be.

Haha we have a neighbor to the side of us who smokes weed, cigarettes, and anything else he can get his hands on enough for it to seep under our door and through our windows. He also loves rap with a lot of bass, which makes me want to kill him over and over to the beat of his bad bad music.

I cannot sleep if I hear my own breathing...I have wished death curses on my neighbor more times than you can imagine.

    I feel your pain.....sigh....

Wow; this makes me appreciate our secluded place more. Granted, we are renting, but I could Not live in the city or even in an apartment in town. I swear, I would rather be dead.
WE actually had our landlord's friend (deadbeat jerk) living upstairs for awhile. He was a NUT! He'd get his car stuck in the driveway and beat it with a chain! And Clipclop, the way he is/was; your smoker neighbor and he would have gotten along famously..

Re: Neighbors...from the land of loud

    I realize I am new..
    But had to chime in...
I found I had some music on the computer.. BUT you can find it anywhere...
What you need is a Boom box, Portable stereo and good speakers. One with a CD Player..
Find Anime music OR Gregorian chanting monk music.. (it is super eerie).
Burn the music on to a CD, place your speakers DOWN towards the floor..
Hopefully in the kitchen, or bathroom.. a place where there is not a carpet..
Turn it on Low at first, if it doesn't work, Turn it up..
Turn it on JUST before leaving for the day..
Leave it ON ALL DAY. If they are at home, it will drive them nuts.
I got some of the songs from the Producers, the one that was the "hitler" song, and played it along with Olympic fanfare, anime, and other weird Odd ball music.
I played it in retaliation to my neighbors who played the mexican oompa loompa music super loud
And my husband used the gregorian chant music and had it playing against the ceiling and went away for the weekend..
Be sure to put it on an endless loop...
    heheheheh

Well, to update I heard them only once yesterday, started the angry upstairs neighbors stomp and the music stopped. I was at work last night and asked my husband how it went, he said they started once but quickly stopped.
Hmmm, makes me wonder if they got the noise complaint.... how their neighbors on their floor can handle them.... I shudder to contemplate.

Argh. I hope that they either shut up or move out Some bands for fun music-blaring that I can think of are KMFDM, Slayer, or Cradle of Filth if you're into edgier stuff. All are great music in their own right, but on repeat, loud.. but then again; it would also bother your good neighbors, so I am not sure that's the route to take in this case. I know a guy who hangs deer carcasses (minus the meat) on poles in front of his acreage by his house (I am Not making this up and can get photos..) keeps trespassers at bay!

Re: Neighbors...from the land of loud

I just remembered something else that was funny! Last summer I was at my mom's; she lives in a city neighborhood where houses are about 7 feet apart. There were people painting the house next door Blaring Rap. I was online, and I YouTubed all of the Morrissey songs that I could find and Blared them right back! I got some awesome comments doing that! People either love Morrissey or despise him.. the painters were not Morrissey lovers..

Find the circuit breaker to their apartment and switch it off. They probably don't know where it is so would have to call building management to fix it for them, which if your building management is as bad as it sounds could take a fair amount of time. A quiet evening alone in the dark can be very illuminating.
