    Coconut husk

Anyone use this stuff for high humidity-needs boas? I got it while I was waiting on the reptile pet store to have cypress mulch again, for my BRB, and I do like some aspects of it, but I can't seem to get it -dry- enough, certainly not for use with non-BRB snakes. It's the bricks that you soak in water; I wrung the stuff out as best I could, but it's still keeping humidity at near 100% for DAYS now on the humid end, and at this rate my snake is going to mold! It's been nice since she was pre-shed, but now it's a little much. Is there some super secret way of drying it out more before lining a cage with it? Seems like just letting it sit out to air-dry would result in MORE MOLD.

I only cut a little off the brick at a time... whatever I think I will need for whatever I am using it for. Also I only add a little water at a time. If I get it too wet then I will put it in a couple of cookie sheets and leave it out to dry for a day or so until its only damp rather than wet. I love using this stuff... Its a bit of a pain in the butt to prep but it works great. For my snakes I buy the coconut bark. Much easier to use.

Yea, we do the adding a bit of water at a time. Grab a cookie sheet, set your oven to 350, and throw the husk in the oven for a half an hour to an hour. Should dry it out.
