Well for one he hadn't came out of his hide for at least two days. That is a big clue for me, then just an overall dullness of his coloration and looking at the eyes really helps.



There is a picture I took off of my phone last week. You can see the brighter yellow, and the purple coming through.

Above you can't and his eyes are dull.
