She will lay the eggs wherever she can. If the conditions are not optimal (i.e. we as keepers did not provide dry substrate with proper heat), she will still lay them, even though she probably knows that they will not survive. Being that we keep these animals in captivity, they do not have the opportunity to seek out optimal conditions for egg laying, if we do not provide them to the gravid dame.
i dont think that the eggs would survive in the cage with her...i have an incubator set up already and i was just hoping that she wouldnt lay them without a nest...thanks for the input
I have made nests with moss for my snakes but seems like they never use them anyway
They will be fine. Just check them several times a day when you are expecting her to lay. Best of luck!
