Well my RTB is about a year and a half. She is very docile. Is yours wild by any chance? It also depends on the snake. I have a baby BP that is very aggressive. I would just continue to hold her maybe 3 times a week and she should start to settle down. From the RTBs I have handled they usually aren't very agressive. I think you have an acception.
