But I don't think Santa could fit it into his bag (or budget!) for me. Plus, it's a little too feminine for my taste. 23k gold plating not withstanding...

Instead, I am getting some new music and a book about the history of the instrument.

Maybe next year I'll ask Santa for this... after Santa wins the lottery.

I wish they made a high-end flying V 7-string. I almost bought a Jackson King V last month but they changed the fret wire to this really thin yet tall frets. Plus the frets stuck WAY out and annoyed me to death so I passed on it.

Ah.. beautiful instruments are artworks within themselves. Makes me miss my '02 Les Paul Studio, in wine red. Sadly, had to sell her to buy a stupid truck that wasn't even worth it.. that guitar just sang.
That bites about the Jacksons, Vom. My husband had a special Jack that was just awesome to play. It was transparent black.. fret action was absolute butter. That was another thing we had to sell along the rocky road that we were travelling.. I suffer from has-owned-instrument syndrome :*(
My prize posession is this: 60s (?) vintage Bantam Bass Fender amp. With tubes. This amp saw countless barroom shows, was brought all over the place; my dad was in a classic-rock cover band. Never made it big, but he was one of those true musicians. I wish I had something to plug into her.. weeps..

I've just been dying to get a Musicman Stingray Bass, same one that Flea of RHCP uses.

They don't come with medium frets anymore? I sold off my KV2 a few months ago, mine was an older one, and I doubt I'll ever purchase a Jackson again. No matter how many pup changes I made it's tone was dull. I went from the TB-4 to a Dimebucker to an EMG 85 to an 81. Nothing could cure it.

Well, I have always suffered from that syndrome...since I've always been poor. The best instrument I have currently is my pear wood soprano recorder.

If we're talking about what we want, however, then this is the pinnacle of instrument for me. If I ever have a house, I will have a music room and something like this will be the centerpiece:



My favorite instrument, the harpsichord. That one is from the 1600's: Yale Ruckers 1640 harpsichord, from http://www.ctearlymusic.org/schedule.../muselaar.html
And, since I know two people right now who have built their own, it shouldn't be too hard to get one once I have the monetary means. Mine would be a deep red wood, though, with Celtic engravings.
