Quarantine Help! W/ Pictures.

So I've never really quarantine before which I know is really bad practice which I did not now before joining this forum. I have my first ever mail order snakes coming. Here are some pictures that were send to me Via a Kingsnake Ad:


1.0 Pastel 700+ Grams (I don't remember exact for sure)


1.0 500g+ She said it was sold to her as a 100% Het Pied. What do you guys think? I'd really like an opinion before I invest in females to breed him with.


0.1 Normal 1800g+Proven Breeder. I really like her pattern.


0.1 Normal 800g+ Also a really nice pattern IMO.

I picked up these guys as a package for 250$+s/h after keeping in contact with the person and trusting that there animals are quality kept. The pastel is gorgeous. THEY'RE ALL GORGEOUS!

So My problem. I've never gotten snakes in the mail and I want to make sure I set up a quarantine since this person isn't a big name breeder so I don't want my babies to get sick or killed. How do I go about setting up an effective quarantine. Should I just build a second, smaller rack set up for new comers in a different room and just make sure to get rid of the packaging right away and wash up really well when done with them? Whats the most effective way to clean out there tubs if forbid one of them is contagious for something? Thanks for the answers ahead of time. And I hope you guys dig the new additions. This is by far the most favorite hobby i've ever had as new as it is. I'm really glad that a community like this exists and I can talk with people with the same passions! I take it that you are getting all of these beauties from the same person?

I have never gotten so many snakes at one time but I don't see why (if snakes are from same person) a small rack system would work.

I don't know how you house you current Bps but what I do for my quarantine snakes is I set up a tub with the works in a separate room. Every time I touch the quarantines I always take a shower afterwords.


When washing these tubs I use hot water/soap/very very small amount of bleach. Then wash again with soap and water. (I am a freak at cleaning) I also keep the snake in the same tub.

Just remember you can't be TOO SAFE

As for them coming in the mail I have only done this a couple of times and everything went smoothly and everyone arrived safe.

Not all Het Pieds have Pied markings...Now I am not saying he isn't a Het.

Overall it looks like you have some beauties coming in.

Yeah I cant believe the deal I got on them. I really hope he is. I'm about to spend a pretty penny on 2 girlfriends for him. Its funny that you ask about my house situation. I kind have been evolving the last month I have been a BP owner. (I know it seems silly its been such a short time.) My first snake was in a tank. Then when I got the second I moved them both into tubs and thats what I continued to do for the rest. But I just used a UTH directly under the tubs with a dimmer switch for each and got the heat and humidty right. But its a little makshift and almost no organization. I never expected to be this obsessed and I use that word with all seriousness . So tomorrow I am building a new Rack! I am really excited. I am doing 6 15qts up top and 4 32qts on the bottom. Then in a few weeks when everyone is settled and I can get a few meals in them and get everyone preped for locks I will invest on a 'Date' rack with 6 42+qt for the pairs. Then once the babies come Ill invest in a nursery. Thats my plan atleast. How I know I am obsessed is because I am really really excited about all of this. Especially building the racks and Incubator.

You should really look into getting a Helix. Well trusted and worth the money. Oh and when you start building your rack are you going to use Flex watt for heat? (You don't have to of course I am just curious)

Now the rack you are going to start building is that for your current babies or the beauts on the way?
